In a few days, all the lists, or almost, will be revealed for the World Cup. That of Tunisia too and in Clermont everyone hopes for one thing, that Saîf-Eddine Khaoui be called up. In his entourage, we also do not really understand the rumors of a non-selection knowing that in his country and in Auvergne we want him to be called up for the Qatari World Cup. Since leaving Olympique de Marseille, where he frankly didn’t really have a chance, the midfielder has come back to life.
After two loans, one in Troyes and another near Caen, the native of Paris moved to Clermont more than a year ago. It is since 2018 that he began to evolve with the Tunisian national team, even being a starter for the first two meetings for which he was selected.
A strong international experience
He also obviously participated in the 2018 World Cup by taking part in a match. But, it is really this season that he shows how much he has been able to progress and the breath is held when the list of Jalel Kadri, installed in the post since last February, will be known from this Monday. His performance this Saturday, against Lens, where he could have finished with two or three assists, will perhaps have convinced his coach even more.
In midfield, he does absolutely everything in Clermont. He collects a lot of balls and completely acts as a back playmaker. His controlled dribbling in front of the defense as well as at the gates of the opposing surfaces puts the attackers of Pascal Gastien’s team in the best conditions. After the 2018 World Cup and his CAN21, he has further expanded his international experience and he will surely want to shine in Qatar in a few days. But Tunisia can believe it, especially with this kind of advantage.
