Real: Benzema explains his absences

Bothered by pain, Karim Benzema (34 years old, 7 games and 5 goals in La Liga this season) preferred to forfeit the last 4 La Liga games. The Real Madrid striker saved himself to compete in the 2022 World Cup with the France team, hence the criticism heard in Spain (see the brief of Wednesday 9/11) and the explanations given to Téléfoot.

“I had a few little pains all over the place, confided the Frenchman. But it’s normal with the number of games there are. I took care of myself, I will be fit and present for the selection. (…) I was embarrassed. You can play but you can’t be 100% and when I go to the field, I want to be 100%. I worked well physically. Today he there’s no problem.”

“We love playing football and it never stops. But the problem is that we are not machines, you always have to be 100% and when you play every three days, after one moment there are injuries, it is obligatory. Especially mentally, it is difficult. We cannot change, it is like that”, concluded the Ballon d’Or, already ready to start the first match against Australia on Tuesday November 22 (8 p.m.).
